Power Washing The Matrix
In this chapter we are demonstrating how the Bible is written in the chronological age of the reader, not the chronological age of the universe. The books of the Bible, in their original order, mirror the life cycle development of a single person.
Genesis 1-5 corresponds to our birth into this world. Think about it. After a peaceful beginning, human babies turn into little rage monsters. Don’t let their adorable little faces fool you, every human baby is just as murderous and selfish towards their siblings as Cain was to Abel. Just try to take ice cream away from a toddler. 👿
Toddlers will either bite you, scratch you, beat you, or scream at you. Their temper tantrums are hilarious because they are so powerless (and adorable).
Thankfully, we don’t remember our youngest years of life. If people were “spawned” on the Earth with full consciousness like Adam and Eve, the worldwide suicide rate might be 50%. 🤷♂️
The Global Flood in Genesis 6 mirrors the moment in our life cycle development when we develop our “remembering self”, as Daniel Kahneman calls it. We can’t remember the evil and violence from the earliest years of our lives, just like we can’t remember the evil and violence from the earliest years of human civilization. Genesis 6 says that before the flood, every intent within the heart of men was evil all the time.
That’s a lot of evil.
Defining The Flood
Before we get into what life was like before the Global Flood, let’s define what we mean by “flood”.
The Global Flood was a catastrophic plate-tectonic collapse that reshaped the world’s continents in just a few weeks, not millions of years. The entire fossil record that we see was laid down that way in just a few weeks, not millions of years. This is why we find dinosaur, fish, and insect fossils:
inside sedimentary rock
still chewing their food,
actively giving birth to their babies, and
locked into fights with other animals.
All the paper-thin wings of fossilized insects are still intact. The delicate little fins on fossilized fish are still intact. These animals didn’t die and then lay around without decaying for hundreds of years as the sediment slowly encased them in “geologic time”. All the fossils were buried alive by hydraulic catastrophe, all at once.

This Global Flood happened less than 10,000 years ago. This is why archaeologists still find red blood cells and other soft tissue inside the bones of dinosaurs. Another reason the Global Flood happened less than 10,000 years ago is the current population of Earth. At our current global population doubling rate (50 years), 2 people would only need 1,650 years to produce 8.5 billion people. Even if the global population doubling rate was 5 times slower because of rampant infant mortality, 2 people would only need 8,250 years to produce 8.5 billion people. If Darwinian Evolution was true, where are the billions of bodies from the millions of years of evolution? There’s just not enough dead bodies. Y-Chromosomal Noah
Another reason the Global Flood happened less than 10,000 years ago is our Genetics.
Geneticists have used our mitochondrial DNA, which humans can only inherit directly from their mother, to build a family tree of everyone on Earth. Even the atheists believe we all came from ONE WOMAN, who they call “Mitochondrial Eve”. Her scientific name is “mt-MRCA”, which stands for Most Recent Common Ancestor.
Geneticists also used the Y-chromosome, which males can only inherit directly from their father, to build another family tree of everyone on Earth. Even the atheists believe that every man came from ONE MAN, who they call “Y-chromosome Adam”. His scientific name is “Y-MRCA”.
According to the atheists, the evolutionary dates for “Scientific Adam and Eve” are just 50-100,000 years ago. According to their evolutionary timeline, there were thousands or millions of people on Earth for millions of years. Then, somehow, the offspring of Mitochondrial Eve “outprocreated” the offspring of every other human from the millions of years of evolution to the level of global extinction and then deleted all their bodies.
One of the most interesting features of the atheist evolutionary timeline is that they always estimate the age of Mitochondrial Eve to be much older than the age of Y-chromosome Adam. There’s a very good Biblical reason for this. The reason the Most Recent Common Ancestor of males (Y-MRCA) is younger than the Most Recent Common Ancestor of women (mt-MRCA) is because Adam isn’t the most recent common ancestor of males. It’s Noah.
Noah is Y-MRCA.
The Great Great Grandfather
Noah’s experience in “the Matrix” was way different than ours.
In the previous story, we learned how Noah lived among dinosaurs, dragons, and powerful half-breed demigods who were born when the sons of God “came into” the daughters of men. I didn’t make that up. It’s in Genesis 6, verse 4. The Bible has more sex, murder, and magic than Hollywood, for real.
Let’s continue reading in Genesis 6.
Genesis 6: 5 When the Lord saw that man’s wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every scheme his mind thought of was nothing but evil all the time, 6 the Lord regretted that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. 7 Then the Lord said, “I will wipe off from the face of the earth mankind, whom I created, together with the animals, creatures that crawl, and birds of the sky—for I regret that I made them.” 8 Noah, however, found favor in the sight of the Lord.
The Bible doesn’t give us a lot of details about the life of Noah, but there is another ancient book that does called, “First Enoch”. 1 Enoch is the story of Noah’s great-great grandfather, who was an absolute legend of the Jewish faith. All of the ancient Jews of Jesus’s day knew 1 Enoch. In fact, the Bible quotes from 1 Enoch.
Check out Jude 14. This is a direct quote from 1 Enoch.
Jude 14: 14 And Enoch, in the seventh generation from Adam, prophesied about them: “Look! The Lord comes with thousands of His holy ones 15 to execute judgment on all and to convict them of all their ungodly acts that they have done in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things ungodly sinners have said against Him.”
How many other books does the Bible quote from?
There are a few reasons that 1 Enoch isn’t in the Bible. The most obvious reason is because this book was lost to the West until the 18th century. Scottish explorer, James Bruce, came out of Ethiopia in 1773 with 3 different copies of 1 Enoch written in Ethiopian. It wasn’t until the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls in the 1940’s that scientists found original fragments of 1 Enoch written in Aramaic that matched the quote in Jude’s letter exactly. Remember, Jude was the brother of Jesus.
But the real reason you are never going to hear a Western church talk about 1 Enoch is because it’s totally bonkers crazy. Like actual “gods from Greek mythology coming down to the Earth to mess with people” crazy. “People flying through the air like superman” crazy.
But clearly the Bible believes in these stories because another apostle, Peter, also believed in the prophecy of Enoch. Here are a few verses in the Bible from Peter that confirm the story in 1 Enoch:
2 Peter 2: 4 For if God didn’t spare the angels who sinned but threw them down into Tartarus and delivered them to be kept in chains of darkness until judgment;
1 Peter 3: 19 [While dead, Jesus] also went and made a proclamation to the spirits in prison 20 who in the past were disobedient, when God patiently waited in the days of Noah while an ark was being prepared. In it a few—that is, eight people—were saved through water. 21 Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the pledge of a good conscience toward God)
Remember these “days of Noah”. It’s a phrase that is used all throughout the New Testament.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with Greek mythology, Tartarus is the name of the prison in the underworld that holds the Titans. According to Peter, Tartarus is real. According to Peter, the gods who were disobedient before the Flood are kept in chains of darkness in Tartarus. So regardless of how you feel about the Book of 1 Enoch, the New Testament supports Greek mythology just as much as Genesis 6.
Jesus even visits Tartarus in the time between his death and resurrection to let them know a new sheriff was in town. 🤯
Meet the Titans
The Book of 1 Enoch was written hundreds of years before “Second Enoch” and “Third Enoch”. I’m limiting my flood discussion to what would have been known to the first century Jews, which is only 1 Enoch.
Let’s pick up the story in Enoch before the Flood, when “the Titans” came down to the Earth.
1 Enoch 6: 1 And it came to pass when the children of men had multiplied that in those days were born unto 2 them beautiful and comely daughters. And the angels, the children of the heaven, saw and lusted after them, and said to one another: 'Come, let us choose us wives from among the children of men 3 and beget us children.' And Semjaza, who was their leader, said unto them: 'I fear ye will not 4 indeed agree to do this deed, and I alone shall have to pay the penalty of a great sin.' And they all answered him and said: 'Let us all swear an oath, and all bind ourselves by mutual imprecations 5 not to abandon this plan but to do this thing.' Then sware they all together and bound themselves 6 by mutual imprecations upon it. And they were in all two hundred; who descended in the days of Jared on the summit of Mount Hermon, and they called it Mount Hermon, because they had sworn 7 and bound themselves by mutual imprecations upon it. And these are the names of their leaders: Samlazaz, their leader, Araklba, Rameel, Kokablel, Tamlel, Ramlel, Danel, Ezeqeel, Baraqijal, 8 Asael, Armaros, Batarel, Ananel, Zaqiel, Samsapeel, Satarel, Turel, Jomjael, Sariel. These are their chiefs of tens.
How amazing is this story already? Note that the angels are organized into squadrons of tens and that most of the squadron leaders have “el” in their name to denote that they work for Yahweh.
It’s mind boggling to imagine Mount Hermon getting its name this way.
1 Enoch 7: 1 And all the others together with them took unto themselves wives, and each chose for himself one, and they began to go in unto them and to defile themselves with them, and they taught them charms 2 and enchantments, and the cutting of roots, and made them acquainted with plants. And they 3 became pregnant, and they bore great giants, whose height was three thousand ells: Who consumed 4 all the acquisitions of men. And when men could no longer sustain them, the giants turned against 5 them and devoured mankind. And they began to sin against birds, and beasts, and reptiles, and 6 fish, and to devour one another's flesh, and drink the blood. Then the earth laid accusation against the lawless ones.
Dinosaurs, dragons, and man-eating giants? Were you imagining all that in the days of Noah?
1 Enoch 8: 1 And Azazel taught men to make swords, and knives, and shields, and breastplates, and made known to them the metals of the earth and the art of working them, and bracelets, and ornaments, and the use of antimony (glass), and the beautifying of the eyelids, and all kinds of costly stones, and all colouring tinctures.
Notice how Azazel upgrades human technology and society all at once? Men learned about swords, armor, and metallurgy. Women learned about jewelry, pottery, and cosmetics. Also notice Azazel isn’t listed among the squadron leaders in 1 Enoch 6.
And there arose much godlessness, and they committed fornication, and they were led astray, and became corrupt in all their ways. Semjaza taught enchantments, and root-cuttings, 'Armaros the resolving of enchantments, Baraqijal (taught) astrology, Kokabel the constellations, Ezeqeel the knowledge of the clouds, Araqiel the signs of the earth, Shamsiel the signs of the sun, and Sariel the course of the moon. And as men perished, they cried, and their cry went up to heaven.”
So according to the Bible, Greek mythology is real. And now according to the Book of 1 Enoch, there was probably a pre-diluvian Iron Age before the post-diluvian Iron Age that we already know about. 😳
The “days of Noah” were high tech. Or higher tech than any of us are imagining.
You know all those legends about the Lost City of Atlantis? Atlantis was a technologically advanced civilization that lived in an aquatic ecosystem, right? Between 1 Enoch and the fossil record, the legend of Atlantis is probably true too. This book wouldn’t be a complete Bayesian Theory of Everything unless we addressed the Lost City of Atlantis alongside all the dinosaurs, dragons, aliens, giants, demi-gods, and titans. 🤣
@physicsnerds: If the Observer Effect in Quantum Mechanics means we live in a video game, I don’t think any stories in the Bible are weird. Giants that are as tall as skyscrapers are not that much bigger compared to the “pixels of reality” than we are. Humans are about 10^30 times bigger than the Planck length, so giants would be what, 10^31 times bigger? Humans are giants already.
If the Bible isn’t true, the only other option to explain the universe we observe today is explosions—lots of explosions. The Big Bang explosion “self-organized” into the Cambrian explosion, which naturally evolved over millions of years to create human beings with quantum computing neural networks. Then a few thousand years ago, Mitochondrial Eve produced the population explosion we see today and her descendants deleted all the dead bodies from the millions of years of evolution.
You’re crazy for believing either option really, but at least I’m following the data. 🤪
Nuclear Caesar
Can you imagine if God didn’t reset the technology on Earth during the Flood?
What if Julius Caesar had atomic bombs 2,000 years before Oppenheimer?
If Nero, Caligula, or Antiochus Epiphanes had access to atomic bombs—none of us would be here. Thankfully, we had four very powerful “Watchers” to plead our case.
1 Enoch 9: 1 And then Michael, Uriel, Raphael, and Gabriel looked down from heaven and saw much blood being shed upon the earth, and all lawlessness being wrought upon the earth. And they said one to another: 'The earth made without inhabitant cries the voice of their cryingst up to the gates of heaven. And now to you, the holy ones of heaven, the souls of men make their suit, saying, "Bring our cause before the Most High."'
These Watchers all have “el” in their name, like most of the other elohim, because they are named for their function.
Raphael means “healer of God”.
Uriel means “light/flame of God”.
Gabriel means “mouth of God”.
I want to make jokes about Gabriel “gabbing” too much, but I am legit scared of all four of these creatures after listening to the Bible so many times while I’m sleeping. You can learn some of my reasons for that habit in “Decrypting the Bible”.
The scariest of these four angels is Michael because nothing in the heavens, in the underworlds, or on the Earth stands in his way. Nothing. Michael’s name is a question, “Who is like God?” Unless you are the answer to his question, Michael doesn’t have to listen to you. Michael can add, update, and delete from “the Matrix” at will.
As powerful as these creatures are, check out the respect they give when addressing our Creator.
1 Enoch 9: 4 And they said to the Lord of the ages: 'Lord of lords, God of gods, King of kings, and God of the ages, the throne of Thy glory (stands) unto all the generations of the ages, and Thy name holy and glorious and blessed unto all the ages! Thou hast made all things, and power over all things hast Thou: and all things are naked and open in Thy sight, and Thou seest all things, and nothing can hide itself from Thee.
Now that’s how you start a prayer. 🫡
1 Enoch 9: 6 Thou seest what Azazel hath done, who hath taught all unrighteousness on earth and revealed the eternal secrets which were (preserved) in heaven, which 7 men were striving to learn: And Semjaza, to whom Thou hast given authority to bear rule over his associates. And they have gone to the daughters of men upon the earth, and have slept with the women, and have defiled themselves, and revealed to them all kinds of sins. And the women have borne giants, and the whole earth has thereby been filled with blood and unrighteousness. And now, behold, the souls of those who have died are crying and making their suit to the gates of heaven, and their lamentations have ascended: and cannot cease because of the lawless deeds which are wrought on the earth. And Thou knowest all things before they come to pass, and Thou seest these things and Thou dost suffer them, and Thou dost not say to us what we are to do to them in regard to these.'
Here, the four angels ask God to judge between the actions of Semjaza, the commander of the 200 fallen angels and Azazel, the lower ranking angel who revealed technology secrets to man which had been preserved in heaven. God ultimately holds Azazel responsible. Here’s how the “Lord of The Ages” responds to all this new technology on Earth.
1 Enoch 10: 1 Then said the Most High, the Holy and Great One spake, and sent Uriel to the son of Lamech, 2 and said to him: 'Go to Noah and tell him in my name "Hide thyself!" and reveal to him the end that is approaching: that the whole earth will be destroyed, and a deluge is about to come 3 upon the whole earth, and will destroy all that is on it. And now instruct him that he may escape 4 and his seed may be preserved for all the generations of the world.'
Do you remember Uriel’s job?
Next, God sends Raphael (healer of God) to “bind Azazel hand and foot”, then “make an opening in the desert”, and “bury him under jagged rocks”. I assume that location is below the Dead Sea, which is the deepest “opening in the desert” on Earth. Then Raphael imprisons the rest of the titans until the end of the age.
1 Peter 3 says Jesus actually visits them in Tartarus while he was temporarily dead. That’s in the Bible.
Technology is really important in the story of 1 Enoch. The technology in Heaven is a billion years ahead of ours. Heaven isn’t magic, it’s technologically advanced. Humans are not inventing electricity and nuclear power. We are “dis-covering” them. God invented the Generative Adversarial Network before our world began.
God is serious about controlling the rate of technological progress on Earth. Here’s another story in the Bible where God intervenes to slow down our technological progress. It’s called “The Tower of Babel”.
Genesis 11: 5 But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. 6 The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7 Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”
Technology is power. This is why I believe God is parenting our entire civiliation. You don’t give guns to little babies who will murder you over ice cream. 😡
The Unseen Realms
1 Enoch 12 is when the story really gets crazy. That’s when Enoch departs on his adventures all throughout the multiverse. Yes. Enoch visits multiple heavens. He visits Tartarus. He meets angels who teach him amazing things. Most insane of all, when Enoch leaves Earth, he never bothers to come back and die. Enoch just disappears into the universe like Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars.
Here’s how 1 Enoch 12 describes it.
1 Enoch 12: 1 Before these things Enoch was hidden, and no one of the children of men knew where he was hidden, and where he abode, and what had become of him. And his activities had to do with the Watchers, and his days were with the holy ones.
Genesis 5 agrees that Enoch just disappears one day. Genesis 5 lists all the Y-chromosomal descendants from Adam to Noah, including Enoch. It also provides the final age of every descendant in the list, except Enoch.
Genesis 5: 23 Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was not there because God took him.”
There are 96 more chapters in 1 Enoch and during most of them Enoch travels all over the multiverse to witness God’s creation:
Enoch delivers messages to the Titans in Tartarus.
Enoch visits the four corners of the Earth.
Enoch sees the future.
Enoch is taught the secrets of the moon, sun, stars and weather by archangels.
Enoch visits the actual throne of God.
The whole story is incredible. It’s a crazy story. It’s a beautiful story. If you like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars—you will love reading 1 Enoch. See if you can find the quote that’s in the Bible.

Heiser has written several books about these topics called “The Unseen Realm” and “Reversing Hermon”. Heiser is careful to point out that the Bible documents at least three separate rebellions in Heaven, not just the original one led by Satan. I also like Heiser’s explanation of demons and how they fit into New Testament theology.

There is one last detail about the Flood from 1 Enoch that’s worth mentioning. Chapter 106 provides some unusual details about Noah that the Bible doesn’t offer.
1 Enoch 106: 1 And after some days my son Methuselah took a wife for his son Lamech, and she became 2 pregnant by him and bore a son. And his body was white as snow and red as the blooming of a rose, and the hair of his head and his long locks were white as wool, and his eyes beautiful. And when he opened his eyes, he lighted up the whole house like the sun, and the whole house 3 was very bright. And thereupon he arose in the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth, and conversed with the Lord of righteousness. 4 And his father Lamech was afraid of him and 5 fled, and came to his father Methuselah.”
So Noah’s eyes shined like flashlights. Noah spoke directly to God as an infant. What would you do if your kid was like that?
1 Enoch 106: 5 And he said unto him: ' I have begotten a strange son, diverse from and unlike man, and resembling the sons of the God of heaven; and his nature is different and he is not like us, and his eyes are as the rays of the sun, and his 6 countenance is glorious. And it seems to me that he is not sprung from me but from the angels, and I fear that in his days a wonder may be 7 wrought on the earth. And now, my father, I am here to petition thee and implore thee that thou mayest go to Enoch, our father, and learn from him the truth, for his dwelling-place is 8 amongst the angels.' And when Methuselah heard the words of his son, he came to me to the ends of the earth; for he had heard that I was there, and he cried aloud, and I heard his voice and I came to him. And I said unto him: ' Behold, here am I, my son, wherefore hast 9 thou come to me ? ' And he answered and said: ' Because of a great cause of anxiety have I come to thee, and because of a disturbing vision 10 have I approached.
In the first 100 chapters of Enoch’s adventures, sometimes he flies, sometimes he remote-views, and sometimes he just teleports. I'm not sure which verb is happening here.
Methuselah gives Enoch the same description of Lamech’s “strange son” that Lamech gave Methuselah. Notice that none of them call this baby, “Noah”. Prehistoric people didn’t name their children until a major event in their lives. You don’t get a cool name like “sits with bulls” (Sitting Bull) until you are brave enough to actually sit with bulls.
“Sits with bulls” is such a cool name. 🧘♂️🐂1 Enoch 106: 10 And his father Lamech became afraid and fled to me, and did not believe that he was sprung from him, but that he was in the likeness of the angels of heaven; and behold I have come to thee that thou mayest make known to me the truth.
And I, Enoch, answered and said unto him: 'The Lord will do a new thing on the earth, and this I have already seen in a vision, and make known to thee that in the generation of my father Jared some of the angels of heaven transgressed the word of the Lord. And behold they commit sin and transgress the law, and have united themselves with women and commit sin with them, and have married some of them, and have begot children by them. And they shall produce on the earth giants not according to the spirit, but according to the flesh, and there shall be a great punishment on the earth, and the earth shall be cleansed from all impurity.”
Jared was Enoch’s father. Jared was the sixth Y-chromosomal descendent from Adam.
1 Enoch 106: 15 Yes, there shall come a great destruction over the whole earth, and there shall be a deluge and 16 a great destruction for one year. And this son who has been born unto you shall be left on the earth, and his three children shall be saved with him: when all mankind that are on the earth 18 shall die [he and his sons shall be saved]. And now make known to thy son Lamech that he who has been born is in truth his son, and call his name Noah; for he shall be left to you, and he and his sons shall be saved from the destruction, which shall come upon the earth on account of all the sin and all the unrighteousness, which shall be consummated on the earth in his days. And after that there shall be still more unrighteousness than that which was first consummated on the earth; for I know the mysteries of the holy ones; for He, the Lord, has showed me and informed me, and I have read (them) in the heavenly tablets.
So Noah got his name from the event that defined his life.
The Days of Noah
Hopefully, 1 Enoch has given you a more vivid picture of the world during the days of Noah. The dinosaurs, dragons, and man-eating giants are obviously much different than our experience today. For now. The rapid advancements in CRISPR technology (DNA editing), Alpha Fold (decoding proteins) and DNA Printers could bring these monsters back to life.
In fact, the New Testament predicts the “Days of Noah” will return. Here’s Luke 17.
Luke 17:
22 Then He told the disciples: “The days are coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you won’t see it. 23 They will say to you, ‘Look there!’ or ‘Look here!’ Don’t follow or run after them. 24 For as the lightning flashes from horizon to horizon and lights up the sky, so the Son of Man will be in His day. 25 But first He must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
26 “Just as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: 27 People went on eating, drinking, marrying and giving in marriage until the day Noah boarded the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
Marriage and giving in marriage means “partying”. Think about what happens at weddings. Think about what happens at the reception after weddings. Think about what happens after that. There’s nothing new under the sun.
28 It will be the same as it was in the days of Lot: People went on eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, building. 29 But on the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be like that on the day the Son of Man is revealed. 31 On that day, a man on the housetop, whose belongings are in the house, must not come down to get them. Likewise the man who is in the field must not turn back. 32 Remember Lot’s wife! 33 Whoever tries to make his life secure will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it. 34 I tell you, on that night two will be in one bed: One will be taken and the other will be left. 35 Two women will be grinding grain together: One will be taken and the other left. 36 Two will be in a field: One will be taken, and the other will be left.”
This sounds like a harvest.
The warning about the end of the age in Luke 17 is also told in Matthew 24.
Matthew 24: 3 While He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples approached Him privately and said, “Tell us, when will these things happen? And what is the sign of Your coming and of the end of the age?”
4 Then Jesus replied to them: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and they will deceive many. 6 You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, because these things must take place, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise up against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8 All these events are the beginning of birth pains.
Persecutions Predicted
9 “Then they will hand you over for persecution, and they will kill you. You will be hated by all nations because of My name. 10 Then many will take offense, betray one another and hate one another. 11 Many false prophets will rise up and deceive many. 12 Because lawlessness will multiply, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But the one who endures to the end will be delivered. 14 This good news of the kingdom will be proclaimed in all the world as a testimony to all nations. And then the end will come.
Daniel 12:4 makes this verse in Matthew 24:14 much more frightening. The original text of Daniel 12:4 says, “Close up this book until the time of the end—when knowledge shall run to and fro greatly multiplying.”
Are these the days of Noah?
The Great Tribulation
Matthew 24: 15 “So when you see the abomination that causes desolation, spoken of by the prophet Daniel, standing in the holy place” (let the reader understand), 16 “then those in Judea must flee to the mountains! 17 A man on the housetop must not come down to get things out of his house.18 And a man in the field must not go back to get his clothes. 19 Woe to pregnant women and nursing mothers in those days! 20 Pray that your escape may not be in winter or on a Sabbath. 21 For at that time there will be great tribulation, the kind that hasn’t taken place from the beginning of the world until now and never will again! 22 Unless those days were limited, no one would survive. But those days will be limited because of the elect.
23 “If anyone tells you then, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘Over here!’ do not believe it! 24 False messiahs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders to lead astray, if possible, even the elect. 25 Take note: I have told you in advance. 26 So if they tell you, ‘Look, He’s in the wilderness!’ don’t go out; ‘Look, He’s in the inner rooms!’ do not believe it. 27 For as the lightning comes from the east and flashes as far as the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 28 Wherever the carcass is, there the vultures will gather.
The Coming of the Son of Man
29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days: The sun will be darkened, and the moon will not shed its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the celestial powers will be shaken.
30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 He will send out His angels with a loud trumpet, and they will gather His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other.
The Parable of the Fig Tree
32 “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: As soon as its branch becomes tender and sprouts leaves, you know that summer is near. 33 In the same way, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near—at the door! 34 I assure you: This generation will certainly not pass away until all these things take place. 35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
No One Knows the Day or Hour
36 “Now concerning that day and hour no one knows—neither the angels in heaven, nor the Son —except the Father only. 37 As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. 38 For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah boarded the ark. 39 They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. So this is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be: 40 Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and one left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and one left. 42 Therefore be alert, since you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this: If the homeowner had known what time the thief was coming, he would have stayed alert and not let his house be broken into. 44 This is why you also must be ready, because the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.
Faithful Service to the Messiah
45 “Who then is a faithful and sensible slave, whom his master has put in charge of his household, to give them food at the proper time? 46 That slave whose master finds him working when he comes will be rewarded. 47 I assure you: He will put him in charge of all his possessions. 48 But if that wicked slave says in his heart, ‘My master is delayed,’ 49 and starts to beat his fellow slaves, and eats and drinks with drunkards, 50 that slave’s master will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not know.51 He will cut him to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 24 is very complicated because Jesus explicitly mentions that the reader needs to decode or “understand” the timeline presented in Daniel (which is also very complicated). If you want to dive deeper, here is the best Biblical explanation of Matthew 24 that I’ve seen. It’s from a great channel on YouTube called The Bible Explained.
In the days of Noah, their technology was very advanced, just like today. They were altering DNA, just like today. They were “partying hard”, just like today. And now that there is an internet like the one mentioned in Daniel 12:4, who knows what will happen next. If you’re reading this story and half the people on Earth have already mysteriously disappeared, then you should have even more confidence that the Bible is true.
And pray for mercy.
I know a Global Flood to reset the technology on Earth sounds crazy, but the scientific fact that every single guy on Earth right now comes from one single Y-chromosomal father around ten thousand years ago is just as crazy.
I believe Noah was real because of genetics.
You don’t have to believe in any of the stories in 1 Enoch to understand how a Global Flood produced the fossil record, world population, and technological sophistication that we see in our world today. Do atheists really believe that humans evolved over millions of years, but never learned to control fire for 99.9999% of our historical timeline? Do atheists really believe humans invented 100.0% of our technology in the final 0.000001% of our evolution?
That annoys me as a mathematician and computer scientist.
Unless the atheists can explain why there are still red blood cells inside dinosaur bones, I will assume their “explosion myths” are more mythological than the actual Hercules or Lost City of Atlantis. 🤣
